I have had such a lazy day! I did like two housekeeping things and otherwise read my book and played on my iPad. It’s been lovely.

I’ve been working on a project for someone that calls for three strands of yarn held together. It’s interesting seeing the way that changes the look of the project. I’m using up some of my stash, so it will be even weirder before it’s done.

This is probably niche content, but I had to laugh when I saw the Connections game today. It was as if the person who created it was making a political statement (just google Kamala Harris, coconut tree and brat if you’re curious).

I haven’t really talked about work lately. Things are going well! Today we met with a new specialist who helped a lot with some glitches we’ve been having. I look forward to meeting with her again & getting more proficient in the new system.

Stayed up way too late the night before watching the Democratic National Convention (and I didn’t even make it until Biden’s speech).
Thursday, August 22nd
Had a dream about my mom and asked the socials for their interpretation: All right you analyzers of dreams, analyze this! Last night I dreamed that I had only gotten my mother one Christmas present so I immediately went online to order the biggest container of Raisinettes ever. Two notes: Mom passed away over 19 years ago, and although I think she liked chocolate covered raisins just fine, I don’t recall that being “her” go-to treat. Here’s my interpretation: seeing all the lovely parents at the DNC was making me miss my mom, and that made me want a snack.
Watched the last night of the DNC. Oh man - such a good convention! So uplifting and joyful that I almost didn’t mind all the sleep I didn’t get. The only stain (to me) is that there wasn’t enough attention paid to the situation in Gaza.
Friday, August 23rd
Kamala Harris is known for wearing Chuck Taylor Converse shoes & I decided that I needed some too. I went to a store and tried some on & thought, “Hmmm. This feels really familiar.” Yeah - I went home and found the ones I bought many years ago. Ha!

This is a Ms. Pinky Two Tone stan account. Also pictured, the neighbor’s crepe myrtle tree (it’s been a good year for them).
Right this minute I’m listening to Dr. M sing a gospel song set to Danny Boy. And watching the Braves play in a nail-biter. And working on this post. What have you been doing this weekend?
The Democratic National Convention was fantastic and was a stark contrast compared to the RNC. Someone ran a clip comparing the DNC roll call to the lifeless and almost bureaucratic one put on by the Republicans.
ReplyDeleteThe clip I saw had the Republican Speaker of The House reciting rules while the delegates had the energy of a rock.
What still sends chills down my spine though is that even with Trump going through a slow motion meltdown and showing signs of dementia, this election will still be razor close.
I know - I can't believe how close it is. I hope it keeps us razor focused!
DeleteI didn't watch any of it but I kept up with it on social media and HCR's newsletters.
ReplyDeleteIt was great!
DeleteOur crepe myrtles were fantabulous this year, too. It was a bit of a surprise, since they bloomed after Beryl, and I really didn't think they'd put on much of a show. Wrong! As for dreams: last night I dreamed that my friends convinced me I needed to add a passcode to my phone. I did, and then when I tried to use the phone again, I had forgotten the passcode and couldn't get in. I spent the rest of the night trying to remember the code. My relief when I woke up and discovered my phone still was accessible was enormous!
ReplyDeleteAs for the weekend, I finally bestirred myself yesterday and got out to some of my favorite nature spots. It was great! It only got up to 96 degrees, and there were NO mosquitos. That was reason enough to make another short jaunt this morning. Now, it's time to grocery shop and do the laundry. And clean the patio. And...and... maybe a nap.
"Only" 96 degrees. You Texas people are crazy :)
DeleteExcellent that you already have the shoes -- and in eye-catching pink! That'll save you some money. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I was pretty pumped (although simultaneously wondering why I had forgotten all about them!).
DeleteI like your Chucks. The convention kept us up way later than usual as well. I loved the reception that Elizabeth Warren got. That she was so visibly moved was a beautiful moment. I fear Ohio is lost in the red, but North Carolina looks gettable for the Dems. Let's win it!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty excited for NC. It was also nice seeing our governor introduce Ms. Harris (although to be fair, he's no Beyonce).
