I don’t do mornings. Well, obviously, I do mornings, but I am never pulled willingly from that warm cocoon. Just five more minutes please…
So I haven’t greeted the dawn very many times. I remember one vacation when Dr. M would show me videos of the sunrise after I had finally awakened. They inspired me to get up earlier – until the next morning. Just five more minutes please…
But it’s there, you know? The dawn, I mean. Every morning I know that dawn has arrived whether I greeted it or not. Sometimes I am humbled and amazed at this world of ours. On those days I make sure to use a real spoon for my yogurt instead of a plastic one. Because one less plastic spoon might someday make a difference in the dawn.

2024 Project 365 – Week Forty-five
You know how I have a label on these posts called Drama Queen? There are at least two days this week that deserve that label. It means I’m e...

First, I'd like to talk about my funeral experience today. The singing was fine – I'm no Susan Boyle, but I'll do. When we...

Dawn is a good choice for "D." I also like "Delight." Without delight life isn't worth living. Children and animals realize this much more instinctively than we adults.
ReplyDeletetry sunsets instead - same effect, different direction
ReplyDeleteI love your hubby taking photos and sharing dawn with you. We aren't all larks. I'm a night owl, myself. My spouse loves sunrises; I've seen more lovely moonrises; it balances us somehow.
ReplyDeleteLike Enchanted Oak, I liked the idea of your husband sharing the dawn through photos! I'm an early riser so I often see sunrises (or at least I'm awake at that hour, whether I'm actually watching or not).
ReplyDeleteLovely post and I too am amazed today at the beauty of the trees in the area I live in.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're doing a cool blogging event :)
ReplyDeleteHugs & love,
Mimi
I am frequently up BEFORE dawn! But after a quick visit to the facilities, it's back to the arms of Morpheus for me!
ReplyDeleteMimi - I just made it up. Well, I heard about someone else doing it & decided that I wanted to participate. But I’m not linking anywhere. We’ll see if I make it through all the letters!
ReplyDeleteBruce - Well yeah, me too - in fact lately I’ve been waking up at 5:00. If I’d just STAY up then I could be a morning person!
Dawn? Hmmm, yes, I've heard of that. Have seen it on the odd occasion I've been hauled out of bed to fix a stoopid computer system in the wee smalls. It's pretty and all, but I'm with Don't Feed the Pixies; I'm just about awake by sunset. Five more minutes please.
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on the last several days. I love this. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, dawn - it's actually my favorite time of the day. It's so peaceful and as you say, inspiring.
Your last sentence is incredible.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a morning person...but I am not. I know I have missed so many beautiful sunrises.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a kindred spirit. Slowly coming to life in the morning sitting like a zombie and cradling that first cup of coffee may be the best thing about retirement.
ReplyDeleteI'm an early riser and all those photos I take at the ocean are sunrises... not sunsets. I do love to see that sun break over the ocean.
