I’m writing Monday Miscellany on Sunday night because… well
I don’t really know why. I just am. So, let’s get to it!
·
Dr. M went to the Renaissance Festival today. He
always takes the history club every year. This year he decided to dress like a
pirate. Doesn’t he look dashing?
He bought me a fabulous anniversary gift (2 ½ months
early – this is typical for us). I’ll post a picture on my P365 post next Saturday.
·
I did church-type stuff instead. We’re having a
bishop visit next Sunday so we’ve been practicing an anthem. Fortunately it’s
one we’ve done before. Unfortunately I’m singing a verse all on my own. But I’m
not nervous. And that makes me
nervous.
·
I was thinking today that I’m not really cut out
to be a choir member. We don’t have a director right now, so I’m singing extra
loud so that the other choir members can follow along on unfamiliar hymns
(thanks Mom & Dad for 8 years of piano lessons – I’m using that music
reading ability every week!). But doesn’t it annoy you when you’re listening to
a choir & all you can hear is one obnoxious alto who’s trying to sing
soprano to keep everyone on rhythm? Especially when said pseudo soprano is
rhythmically challenged? Or is that just me? (It really is me – I’m so sorry
Christ Episcopal!).
·
I had this big list of things to do while Dr. M
was gone. And I did a number of them. Imagine my surprise when the end of the
day came & I had somehow managed to not
vacuum. I really don’t know how that happened. But I swept out the garage so at
least some flooring type surface is a little cleaner.
·
I’m getting a cut & color on Friday. I was
trying to figure out the last time I had my hair cut – the last appointment I
show on my calendar was December! I
know I’m cheap & lazy, but I can’t believe that I went that long without a
haircut. Although I threatened to get a pixie cut while I was sweating in my
choir robe this morning, I will most likely just get a couple of inches cut
off. I know that you were going to have trouble starting your week without that
bit of knowledge.
Well, it’s time to call Daddy for our weekly chat. Hope
everyone has a great week!
Your pirate does look quite dashing! I'm not even certain we'll have our Renaissance Festival this year - they were using the grounds for people who had to evacuate their homes because of the wildfires, and I somehow lost track of what's happening. All of the fires are out - I hope there was no damage at the Faire grounds.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time for me to trim my hair, too. I think about going back to a salon every now and then, but I was so traumatized the last time I went I swore off such things. When I walked out, I looked like Sinead O'Connor. Truly. It's been over 15 years since I've set foot in one of those places. I ought to get over it.
I love that you call your dad every week. When I hear people say things like that I get a little sad-twinge, but it's getting better. ;-)
Have a good week!
It used to be my mom I called. And it was a lot more than just once per week! Not that I never talked to my dad back then :)
ReplyDeleteYes he does look dashing and hey, he's only about a week late for International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you sing like an angel.
I don't get my hair cut much either. Heavens, some of us have better things to do!
ReplyDeletex
yes - Dr M looks great as a pirate, shame we didn't get to see the Bug dressed up likewise
ReplyDeleteYou're right DTFP - I need some pirate garb too! I can dress like Elizabeth Swan... Of course, the effect would be a bit different. Heh.
ReplyDeleteonce a year hair cut. that's about right. Maybe twice a year.
ReplyDeleteOh, we have this in common - I recently had my hair trimmed and shaped ... realized I hadn't done that since last November! Not counting the times I attempted to trim myself ........... Happy Monday
ReplyDeleteI do trim my own bangs - sometimes they look ok & sometimes they look pretty raggedy. The probably is that I kind of LIKE raggedy bangs.
ReplyDeleteI love the pirate! I'm a bit suspicious though - it looks like he got the perfect pirate outfit from his wardrobe. Very well-fitting. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteHaircut and colour for me tomorrow. Every six months quite enough. At that price.
And coo to the choir stuff. I love people who can sing.
As everyone else has said - Dr M looks great a la pirate. I've never coloured my hair but I've often thought I'd like black hair instead of mousey brown. You'll have to record your singing and post it up for us, we'd love to hear you.
ReplyDeleteArgent - I have posted myself singing on here. We had a Bus challenge for New Year's to rewrite Auld Lang Syne: http://danabugseyeview.blogspot.com/2010/12/poetry-bus-bug-sings-auld-lang-syne.html
ReplyDeleteHehe, just had a listen! You have a lovely rich voice.
ReplyDeleteI love the pirate costume and I am hoping to one day visit the renaissance festival myself. So much fun I have heard. I need a haircut too, but I dont' think it has been that long since my last one :) Can't wait to see the new do/color.
ReplyDeleteYes...that costume really suits Dr. M. That is great that you are in the choir. I think you should be the director. I really dread having to get my hair cut. I put it off as long as possible because I can not find anyone to cut it to suit me.
ReplyDeleteA weekly chat with Dad is a nice tradition.
