On Monday I talked about what was different about our Lake
Erie experience (polka!). Today I’d like to talk about – or rather show you –
what was the same. It brings us peace and centers us somehow to go and view
that vast water, watch the birds, explore the shore.
As usual, we came home with dozens of pictures of birds.
They make us laugh & then just astound us with their beauty. I know that
some folks don’t like seagulls, but since I don’t live around them I’ll just
admire how pretty they are.
An egret...
Of course it wouldn't be a lake trip without pictures of black ducks.
There are always a few dogs. This one was really eager to get to the water for a drink.
And this one played fetch forever - bounding out for the ball & then practically just floating back with it.
On the first day we were there it was fairly warm (I only got a little chilled).
We saw flowers & butterflies.
But Monday a cold front moved through & it was really really windy and quite chilly. Thank goodness Dr. M packed a long sleeved shirt for me (he always does).
And even though it was cold & blustery I really loved the atmospheric sky.
We had such a nice time. I read two books and Dr. M played on his computer and rested. It was a great break.
The pictures are truly exquisite! That one of the sea and sky with sunlight at the horizon - wow!! And the birds, dogs, and of course you two.
ReplyDeleteOne time when I was really stoned at the beach I decided all seagulls must be named "Randy." But they are beautiful.
The egret! Wow. Makes me want to go there.
Wow. Those last shots of the water/sky are really something else-nice! Sorry, but sea gulls are simply flying rats when you live with them. They have no fear!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a good time. I loved the festival!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are amazing and it sounds like a wonderful break. Dr. M is so thoughtful to pack a long sleeve shirt for you. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteHey! Birds, dogs, water, clouds . . what more can you want? I always loved cloudy days at the beach, when I could get to the beach. It's been a few years now and I'm ready.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I like your new profile pic, too.
Ooo, I love the atmospheric sky. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Reading by the lake, sounds like the perfect vacation.
ReplyDeleteYou two are so cute. And the pictures are wonderful. A beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWe were at pretty much the same spot in March I think! Looks like a great trip - much to see.
ReplyDeletex
What a great few days of rest and relaxation.
ReplyDeleteI love seagulls too, but maybe I just love being at places where seagulls live like large bodies of water, preferably in warm tropical climates with lots of white sand......
Blessings

ReplyDeleteSorry
Love the picture of the lighthouse
Wow -- the one with the waves. Looks like stop-motion photography!
ReplyDeleteSea gulls are best from a distance. Although they are beautiful in flight, they're such scavengers! I feel the same way about squirrels -- tree rats. Funny, cute, but tree rats.
You and Dr. M manage to capture the best of both kinds of rats!
Sounds like a lovely time. Ok fine, I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteI think that is so romantic that Dr. M packs you a long sleeved shirt. THAT is true love.
I think Dr. M has a big ♥ and soft spot for you.
ReplyDeleteMy brother takes his kayak out on Lake Erie every day after work. He feels discombobulated when he doesn't. Something about nature and feeling grounded. I think I can see why from your photos.
