Monday Miscellany

So yesterday I was standing in the church kitchen, eating a cookie, and discussing books, when I bit down on something hard. I tried to chew it, but no go. I spit it out on my hand & thought, "Hmm, that looks tooth shaped!"  And that's how I learned that temporary crowns really are quite temporary! I was able to reattach it with some denture adhesive. Hopefully the real crown will be ready soon!

I'm getting so slack with reading lately! Who knows when I'll decide that I've read enough to do another book review Tuesday. How have I been spending my time instead? Crochet and Hearts (which, as I mentioned last week, I play very badly). Urgh. I think maybe it's because the book I'm reading on my Kindle is bugging me. I like it, but I don't like it.

We finally took down the Christmas tree today & moved Pinky back into the living room. I'm glad to have her out where we can see her - & I'm glad to have that space back in the bedroom! Now I can actually make the bed. Woot!

I've been sitting here for 20 minutes trying to come up with something profound to say about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Nothing is coming to mind, so I'll just say this: Happy Birthday Dr. King. We're still fighting the fight.

  1. Years ago, I was eating a Tootsie Roll and pulled off a temporary crown that way. I had no idea what to do, so I just stuck it back on, pressed down, and pretended it never happened. It stayed put for the four or five days it took until the permanent crown came in.

I started a book well before Christmas and I'm still only about 10% done!

  2. The book I'm reading now is so-so too and I've been at it for more than a week. Almost done...

We've had quite the MLK weekend with not only B's adventures that you read about on the blog but also E going in today to have his knee checked out and x-rayed. Crazy, stuff. Both now have to see the Orthopedist this week. X-ray for his knee was clear but definitely needs to be checked out further to find out why it's popping so much and swelling.

  3. Oh, my gosh. I dreamed about losing my teeth the other night and you actually do it. I'm so glad it was a temp crown and not a real tooth. That would be too awful.

  4. At least you had enough awareness to think about Dr. King. I didn't even get that far. (King's birthday isn't a holiday in the UK and no one even mentioned it here.)

Your geranium looks about as bedraggled as ours. (No offense to Pinky.) I guess it's just the winter look!

    1. It is the winter look...the first winter, I thought she was going to die all winter. Nope. Just the way they cope. :-)
