Project 365 - Week Two

Here we are at week two of Project 365. I must say that it changes my perspective of my day to have to consider what type of picture I'll take each day. I like it! Go here tomorrow to see the links to the other folks pictures.

So on Sunday basically I spent the entire afternoon catching up on the newspapers. We only get Thursday - Sunday, but I apparently am only able to read them on Sundays. I kind of like the feeling of turning the pages & getting ink all over my hands - makes me feel a bit nostalgic...

Monday was the first of our snow this week. We ended up with about 6 inches total. I was just mesmerized by this little table by our back door. I took its picture as soon as I got home from work - before I even came inside. I love the light glinting off the snow crystals.

Tuesday was my hair crisis - which you can read about here. Nuff said.

Dr. M has had a cold all week (I feel so bad that I'm a terrible nurse). This has not stopped him from shoveling the driveway numerous times. I don't know why I can't do it when I get home just because it's dark. Anyway, on Wednesday he pulled a Kleenex out of the box & this is the result. At our house we are highly amused by such things.

I took this picture on my way home from work on Thursday. It's my favorite of the batch I posted here. Although I like the sheep picture a lot too. This just makes me sigh & relax into myself when I look at it.

I'll admit, this is a bit of a cheat. Dr. M took the picture because I was driving. If you click on it to enlarge it you can see the geese. We were wondering if it was a training mission - the back of the V looks a little raggedy to us!

And here we are to today. I colored my hair - can you tell? It's a bit redder than I expected (happy, Greg?), but I'm sure that will fade pretty quickly. I think I like it - but lets give it a few days to make sure.

I hope everyone had a great week!

  2. Apropo hair color. An israeli scientist won with other two, the 2009 Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Nobody (except for the Media)discussed her work , only her grey hair and how it makes her look old.

The questions asked ( by women, of course,) were why doesn't she color her hair (maybe as a scientist she's more aware of the danger) and why isn't she working on discovering something that may prevent hair from getting grey?

  3. The red is good. I like the pic of the ice crystals. Looks like some of the frit (crushed glass) I use. I have a picture of a scraggly geese 'V' too somewhere.

  5. I tried to do Project 365 last year and ran out of steam in the third week. My days are too much the same (which translates as not looking closely enough--my bad). I don't know if I should try to catch up and give it another go this year or not. Maybe since you're doing it there's a little incentive...

  6. You chose the perfect color. Love it. The bitter cold and snow are really getting to me. I did like the photo of your table though.

  10. This must have been the Week of the Sick Husband. Mine was down with food poisoning and then, as he was getting better from that, developed an ear infection. Hope yours is feeling better. Mine is on the mend :-)

Your last photo made me chuckle and brought back a memory of the first time I ever dyed my hair. I had done the temporary 14 day dye and then the 28 day number. Having NO CLUE that real dye is a whole 'nother animal, I finally dyed my hair. It was the color of new pennies! Yikes! I completely freaked out. Ivan said give it a few days to get used to it but every time I'd walk by a mirror I'd do a double take. After five days I called my sister in desperation (she was a former hair stylist). She said I needed to counteract the red with green. "I don't want to turn my hair green!" I shrieked. No, not green dye, she explained, but a green-BASED dye -- which all the shades of ash are...so I went with a light ash brown and it toned down the red enough so I could live with it. Now I just use an ash brown all the time.

We are amused by the small things too :-)

Because of the illness in the house, I haven't made a pecan pie yet. It's killing me! lol

  11. that table looks like a pice of styrofoam... I didn't realize what it was until I read your comment about it... I love the way the snow glimmers on it.

  12. Fabulous new color, love it! Looks like you had a cut too? I hate to say it but I'm awfully glad to see snow somewhere else besides here. I did wake up this morning to find the trees and powerlines glazed over with ice which is always a very scary thing to behold.

Hope Dr. M starts feeling better soon, that picture just cracked me up.

  14. First, I loved your Zambia pictures. Funny that you had to take the proper pictures for your friends. Here in the US we need to give our kids a few jobs like that little girl had.

I thought your snow-covered table was a piece of styrofoam. LOL!

    Love the new hair color!

  15. Snow close up is AMAZING! I enlarged and saw different shapes.
Don't worry, I didn't try a close up of your gray hairs ;)
    Enjoy your new look!

  17. Stopping by from Sara's place. (I'm a newbie.) I've so been there with hair crises. Not in a very long time, but I remember it only too well.

  18. Being amused by small things is a great gift! I like the "special effects" you used to display the different photos. Beautiful snow, at least in pictures.

Ah, I miss going through the Sunday paper.

  19. Sadly, the hair isn't quite as red as the flash made it appear - but I like it a lot.

Dr. M is doing better - he just has the persistent cough that always seems to come with these things. Hopefully that will go away soon.

I had a hilarious experience with coloring my hair a number of years ago - my first attempt at home. The cinammon color would have been startling all alone, but I had done a TERRIBLE job of getting the coverage even - I was a blotchy mess! Dr. M went out to a drug store late at night to get a dark brown to counteract the mess. Now I'm much more careful!

  21. Thanks for checking out my pictures this week. It is great to have some encouragement!
The newspapers made me realize I haven't read a REAL (lol) newspaper in a LONG time. I am essentially part of the tech generation. I get my news from yahoo. :) I'm not really sure what your hair looked like before but, I really like the color of it now. I love red hair. All your pictures look great. Can't wait to see next weeks!

2024 Project 365 – Week Twelve

I woke up not feeling well and skipped church (for the second week in a row - oops), but that doesn’t keep me from being deep in the throes ...
