What an interesting week this has been! I've been slowly getting better – just have the lingering cough thing, which frankly is more annoying to the people around me than it is to me (sorry boss & Dr. M). Work has been extra busy for about a week now. I often joke that I don't really work very hard, and it's true that we can have (long) periods of downtime, but this past week was a major exception. In addition to a dramatic increase in my usual workload, my old boss in HR is between admins so I've been helping her, and the admin for our president quit unexpectedly, so I've been helping him. Yes, that's right, I'm doing the work of three admins right now. And I LOVE it! I much prefer being busy & figuring out how to do new things. And of course I like proving how indispensible I am to the company. Heh. So, I'm extra thankful for my job this week.
Of course the extra work means I don't get around to all my usual blogs as quickly. And my comments might be brief & nonsensical. Well, that's actually probably not that different, is it?
I'm also thankful for my Bible Study group. We're small, but mighty. We're reading The Good Book by Peter Gomes right now (actually we just finished the first chapter) and I do believe I might be getting ready to learn some things.
I'm thankful that Dr. M and I discovered some encouraging financial news this week. We still need to work on this area, but it felt nice to hear something good for a change.
I'll leave you with this odd poem that just appeared from my fingertips:
Where is your sad heart?
On a peg by the door…
ready to be donned
at any moment.
For now, though
I shall dance
in the firelight
with God.

Good news is alwaya good, no matter how small.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe your financial news is that you'll now be paid the salary for the three positions you're fulfilling.
ReplyDeleteI like the poem, and admire you for being able to get around to blogging at all!!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!
I love (emphasis, emphasis) the poem!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better and happy as a clam being busy at work.
ReplyDeleteMy bible study group WAS ready The Good Book, but attendance was so spotty and we were always canceling the group, that I have canceled it permanently! Or at least for now.
Poem is fab! But I expect nothing less.
Thankful for you!
I love that "just right" amount of busy-ness: the workday goes by quickly but not overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteDear The Bug,
ReplyDeleteI'm with you--it's good to be busy. But I do hate not getting around to all the blogs.
I also love this poem. I think you should copy it onto a card for your datebook or wallet. That's not a trivial thing, it would mean you were carrying a theme around with you all day!
Anyway, that's what I do, when I find something within/without that resonates with a life view, which is what this seems like.
Have a great day,
Probably a crazy comment, eh?

Coughs are not fun especially when you start feeling better but that cough really wears you out. I love good news in any size!! Nonsensical is just fine by me.
ReplyDeleteyeah - being busy is better at work, otherwise the days just drag
ReplyDeleteloved the poem
That sounds great about your job. But doing all that work should come with some monetary rewards also. Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteexcellent list. glad you are feeling better. I'd much rather be busy than not and so happy you have good financial news.
ReplyDeleteThat cough is universal! So many people I know here in the UK have had, or still have it. Hope yours will soon go and thanks for leaving such a nice comment on my blog. I do like your poem.
