Sigh...

Ah well. I actually have a couple of choices. I'll talk more about it once I know more. But, until then, as I said in my Facebook status: So I get to have a hip replacement (or resurfacing)! All comments, recommendations, horror stories and miracles of the hip are welcome.

  1. The people I know who have had it done are to a person, POSITIVE...

does this mean you'll be even "more hip?"

  2. Wow, that's a bit of a shock Dana! Good luck with it all whatever you decide to do.

If it's any consolation my hips are about the only part of me that haven't started creaking, failing, or falling out.

And yes please! Drive the bus! Post prompt as soon as you can!Thanklee!

  3. I work for Arthritis Care and have got information coming out of my ears (and booklets!) if that's what you want. Just let me know.
Mega-majority of people (and some of them still in their teens and twenties) I know who have had it done very happy with the procedure.

  5. Don't look so sad, Bug .. my left hip was replaced in March 2004, my right in January 2008. The best thing I EVER did. Not that it's an easy journey but it's so life changing, totally worth it. If you ever need to talk you can call me at 541-322-9836. Helen

  7. Several years ago my right hip was killing me. I limped everywhere. Somehow, it cleared up on its own. I'm thinking it might have been either thyroid or hormonal induced arthritis. But, everyone I know that's had a replacement, has been very happy with the results.

  9. Sorry you are faced with this- seems our bodies sometimes betray us before we are even aware that is what they are doing!
However I have heard excellent things
about the procedure. Nowadays they really
    seem to have great success with it.My Mom had two done back at the beginning;
and today I work with people who are
    zipping through their Physical therapy!
Take heart Bug! Thanks for sharing.

  11. There is a guy at my work that had it done & he said it was the best thing he ever did. He was back in 6 weeks walking like a STUD! :)

My dad was looking into it for awhile himself & the surgery is so far progressed then what it used to be.

  14. My mother had a minimally invasive hip replacement done--yes, there really is such a thing. She came back from it in such a short time and with very little pain. Email me if you want the name of her surgeon for consult. We both live in OH, so it's not so farfetched. If it will help, let me know.
